In short: don’t send it again or pay another fee yet. First check your email and miDGT: the scooter may already be registered. If it isn’t, you can file the application again with the same fee number.

What happened?

Sometimes the DGT website receives the application but fails to show you the confirmation. You may see a message such as “no hemos recibido confirmación del registro” (we have not received confirmation), the page goes blank or shows an error at the end.

That doesn’t mean it wasn’t registered. It may have been, and the receipt may reach you later by email.

1. Wait a few hours and check your email

The DGT sends the registration and fee payment details to the email address you gave in the application. Check your spam folder too.

2. Check whether the scooter is already registered

Log in to miDGT (on the DGT website or the mobile app). It shows the scooters registered in your name and lets you download their registration certificate. We explain how in how to know if my scooter is registered.

  • If it’s there: it’s done. Download the certificate and keep it.
  • If it isn’t: go to step 3.

3. If it wasn’t registered, apply again with the same fee

If after a few hours you have no receipt and it doesn’t appear in miDGT, you can file a new application using the same fee number: you don’t need to pay another one. If you’ve lost the number or it doesn’t work, see error paying the DGT fee.

What if the DGT site says the scooter is already registered?

If, when applying, the site says that scooter is already registered or asks you for a different fee, don’t pay anything yet. It may be that:

  • an earlier attempt of yours did go through, even though you got no receipt;
  • the shop, a relative or a gestoría registered it;
  • it is still registered to the previous owner, if it’s second-hand. Then you don’t need to register it, but to change the owner.

Check miDGT: if it’s in your name, download the certificate and you’re done.

Rather not wrestle with the DGT website?

Let us do it: €35 including the fee and VAT, in under 24 hours, and if something goes wrong we sort it out. We only need your DNI (or your NIE with your address in Spain) and a photo of the scooter’s plate.
