Registering a Segway-Ninebot e-scooter with the DGT: certified models and how to do it

Do you have to register a Segway-Ninebot scooter?

Yes. Since 2026 every e-scooter must be registered with the DGT to be ridden, whatever the brand (Royal Decree 52/2026). It also needs the plate, insurance and, for the rider, a helmet.

Is your Segway-Ninebot certified? The models on the DGT list

These are the 23 Segway-Ninebot models on the DGT’s official list, updated on 23/10/2026. Look for yours by model or by the certificate number on the plate.

Almost every Segway-Ninebot is listed with a technical code (for example, 051201E) instead of the trade name. That code is on the manufacturer’s plate or on the technical sheet.

Where is the certificate number?

On the manufacturer’s black metal plate, in the “Nº certificado” field: one letter and four digits, such as B1002. It is usually at the base of the stem, under the deck where you stand or near the rear wheel. It is also on the technical sheet.

What if your Segway-Ninebot isn’t on the list?

If you can’t find your Segway-Ninebot by code, check the certificate number on the plate: if it has none, it depends on when it was sold.

• If it was sold before 22 January 2024 and has no certificate number, it can be registered as a “non-certified vehicle”, but it can only be ridden until 22 January 2027.
• If it was sold later without a certificate, it cannot be registered: complain to the shop.
