Do company scooters have to be registered?
Yes. Since 2026, every e-scooter ridden on the street must be registered in the DGT Vehicle Register (Royal Decree 52/2026). If the scooter belongs to the company, it is registered in the company’s name, with its CIF. Each scooter also needs:
- Its plate: the sticker with its number, at the back under the light.
- Its insurance, compulsory since 2 January 2026 (Law 5/2025). The scooter must be registered before it can be insured. Riding without insurance carries a fine of €250 to €800 per scooter.
Which companies is it for?
- Delivery and courier companies.
- Scooter rental companies, including for tourists.
- Hotels and holiday apartments that lend scooters to their guests.
- Companies with large warehouses, building sites or campuses where staff ride scooters on public roads.
How we do it
- Write to us on WhatsApp or at patinetes@ntcars.es: how many scooters, which brands and in which company’s name.
- Send us the list in an Excel file, one row per scooter: brand, model, serial number and, if it has one, certificate number.
- We check each scooter on the official DGT list and tell you which are certified and which are not.
- We tell you what we need from the company and file all the registrations in its name.
- We send you the registration certificate for each scooter, as a PDF, with its number.
- If you want, we make the plates. We are an authorised number-plate processor (no. 038001272) and we send them to you.
Fleets are not ordered through the form on the website, which is only for private individuals: they are always done by quote.
Certified and non-certified scooters
First of all, it helps to know what you have in the fleet:
- Certified: they have a certificate number (one letter and four digits, for example B1029). You can look them up in our certified scooter finder. They are registered permanently.
- Non-certified: those sold before 22 January 2024 without a certificate. They can be registered, but can no longer be ridden after 22 January 2027. Bear this in mind if you are renewing the fleet. More in certified or non-certified scooter.
Frequently asked questions about scooter fleets
How much does it cost to register a scooter fleet?
It depends on how many scooters there are. For fleets, from €15 per scooter, including the DGT fee and VAT. Plates are quoted separately. Write to us with the number of scooters and we will give you a fixed price.
Can the whole fleet be registered at once?
Yes. Each scooter has its own registration, but we prepare and file them all together from your list.
Do I have to go anywhere?
No. Everything is done online, anywhere in Spain.
Whose name are the scooters registered in?
The company’s, with its CIF and registered address.
How long does it take?
It depends on the size of the fleet. We give you the timeframe together with the quote.
What about insurance for the scooters?
Each scooter needs its own third-party liability insurance. The company takes it out with its insurer once the scooters are registered.
Shall we register your company’s fleet?
Tell us how many scooters and which brands. We’ll give you the price and timeframe, with no obligation. Also by email: patinetes@ntcars.es
