What does scooter insurance cover?
It is third-party liability insurance: it covers the damage you cause with the scooter to other people or their property. The law (Law 5/2025) sets a minimum of €6,450,000 for personal injury and €1,300,000 for property damage.
- It only covers you in Spain.
- It doesn't cover your own losses (your own injuries, theft of the scooter or breakdowns): for that there are optional extras.
- The quote from our partner includes compulsory third-party liability, voluntary cover up to €300,000 and legal protection.
How much does it cost?
With our insurance partner, from €69 a year (less than €6 a month). The final price depends on the optional cover you add and you see it in the quote, with no obligation.
How to get your quote in 3 steps
- Have your registration number to hand (format M 0000 AAA); it is on the DGT certificate.
- Press “Get an insurance quote”: our partner's form opens on this same page.
- You receive the quote, with no obligation. If it suits you, you take out the policy and keep the proof on your phone.
What happens if you ride without insurance
The DGT fines €202 to €610 for not having the insurance in place and €250 to €800 for riding without it, and the scooter can be immobilised or taken to the pound. And if you cause an accident, you are liable for the damage.
Before the insurance: registration and plate
Insurance is taken out for a scooter that is already registered and carries its plate: without registration and a plate it cannot be insured. If you haven't done that yet, we can do it for you: DGT registration €35, plate €15 + shipping or the registration + plate pack €45 + shipping, VAT and fee included.
