How to choose a gestoría to register your scooter: 9 things you can check

Do I need a gestoría to register my scooter?

No. The owner can apply for registration in the DGT's Vehicle Register themselves: on the DGT's online office, with Cl@ve, an electronic DNI or a digital certificate, or in person, with an appointment at a traffic office (Jefatura de Tráfico). Either way you only pay fee 4.1, €8.67. A gestoría or an insurance agent can also submit it for you.

Handing it over is worth it mainly if you don't have Cl@ve or a digital certificate, if the online office keeps giving you errors or if you'd rather have someone check the details before they're sent. The 9 checks before choosing a gestoría

These are facts you can check yourself, without relying on what the website says about itself. Under each one we tell you how NT Cars meets it, so you can compare.

1. Is it licensed, and can you check?

A gestoría is run by a licensed gestor administrativo (colegiado). Ask for their membership number and look it up in their professional association's public directory: their name must appear. 2. Who is behind the website?

Look for the legal notice: it must give the company name, its tax ID (CIF), its address and its Commercial Register entry. Be wary if you can't find them. NT Cars: 2026 NT CARS, SL (tax ID B24862104), registered in the Barcelona Commercial Register (sheet B-646134), with an office at Calle Rosselló, 216, 6th floor, Barcelona. 3. Does the price include the DGT fee and VAT?

The registration fee is €8.67 (fee 4.1) and is paid once. Ask whether the price you see includes it and whether VAT is included, so you compare final amounts. NT Cars: €35 including the fee and VAT.

4. When will you get the certificate?

Ask for a specific timeframe and when it starts. NT Cars: the certificate arrives normally in under 24 working hours once your documents are complete.

5. What happens if something goes wrong?

Ask what happens if the procedure fails: whether they redo it and how much of your money you get back. NT Cars: if the mistake is ours, we redo it at no cost. If it can't be processed for reasons beyond our control (for example, incorrect details or not having the identification method you chose), we refund the amount paid minus €2 for the payment fee.

6. How will you identify yourself?

The DGT requires the owner to be identified with Cl@ve PIN, a digital certificate or a Spanish driving licence. Check which method the gestoría accepts and whether you have it. NT Cars: with a Spanish driving licence you don't need Cl@ve or a digital certificate; you can also identify yourself with Cl@ve PIN or a digital certificate. You need legal residence in Spain and your DNI or NIE.

7. Does it have dated reviews you can read?

Look for reviews on an outside platform, such as Google, with a date and text, and check whether they are recent. NT Cars: 5.0 on Google from 15 reviews (as of 01/10/2026). You can read them on Google.

8. What is included and what isn't?

Check whether the price includes the identification label and insurance, which you also need to ride. NT Cars: registration doesn't include the plate: it costs €15 + €4.95 shipping (VAT included), or the registration and plate pack costs €45 + €4.95 shipping. 9. Can you talk to a person?
